The first examples of Tea Tongs - succeeding the andiron type - were these Baluster styles which were produced from about 1720 to 1730 or so. These tongs were strictly functional, but extremely attractive nonetheless.
These styles are for the purist collector who can appreciate the simple beauty of their elegant design.
